(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) For the third year in a row, Hyundai's unique design language has earned a Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.


The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe was awarded this accolade in the transportation category for its dynamic character lines and bold design features. Now in its 64th year, Good Design Awards honour the yearly achievements of the best industrial and graphic designers and world manufactures for their pursuit of extraordinary design excellence.


Good Design is the oldest architecture and design Awards Programme organised worldwide, and strives to create a revived awareness about contemporary design and to honour both products and industry leaders in design and manufacturing that have chartered new directions and pushed the envelope for competitive products in the world marketplace.


For 2013, the Good Design Awards were judged in Chicago by an international jury of design professionals, architects, experts and cultural leaders. The jury honoured more than 700 product designs and graphics from over 38 nations with Good Design Awards. Ever since its launch, the new Santa Fe is not only being praised by consumers and automotive experts alike from across the globe but also has been winning numerous prestigious awards under various categories in many countries. All these awards will provide consumers with further confidence in the SUV, reinforcing its reputation as a superb vehicle.


Santa Fe with a solid heritage as Hyundai's most representative SUV model and with its core product concepts being Smartness' & Practicality', is enjoying outstanding consumer demand in the SUV market and offers a whole new class of luxury and comfort with its differentiated design, cutting-edge technologies and practical use of space. The Santa Fe with a distinctive Storm Edge' styling captures the strong and dynamic shapes created by nature during the formation of a storm, as well as cutting-edge technologies and practical use of space in a premium quality package.


Featuring sophisticated and refined lines, which are in harmony with its bold and voluminous surfaces, the Santa Fe presents a more masculine appearance. It has been influenced by Hyundai's brand direction Modern Premium', consequently featuring luxury elements that have traditionally been reserved to more premium models. The design implements the trademark Hyundai hexagonal grille, creating a futuristic and urban-style SUV image. The interior design is equally bold and modern, especially in the front where the dashboard and centre console exude a finish akin to that of a luxury modern sedan.


Usage of high quality materials throughout the cabin and the state-of-the-art manual or automatic air conditioning ensures a comfortable journey for occupants whatever the region's climate throws at it. Premium features are not limited to Hyundai's luxury line up, but can be seen in the Santa Fe. The Santa Fe has reclining angle comfort rear seats that are identical to seats found in luxury sedans, as well as full leather for both the front and rear seats, with a 12-way driver power seat. Other added touches include a cooling box that will refrigerate drinks in the hot weather and a rear window curtain that will provides more exclusivity and privacy for the rear passengers. Families appreciate the remarkable versatility of the Santa Fe, which also offers class-leading amounts of leg-room.


The second row seats can slide, recline and split-fold to offer a wide range of seating set-ups, while two additional foldaway seats in the boot can also be specified. The luggage compartment itself has two neat storage areas under the floor and provides a huge storage space. Santa Fe appeals widely to families who are looking for a tough, versatile on-road SUV. And with families in mind, Hyundai has ensured that the Santa Fe is one of the safest vehicles in the market. Cuttingedge active safety systems include Electronic Stability Control, a Hill start Assist Control system that prevents the vehicle from rolling when on an incline, as well as a Brake Assist System, which increases braking pressure in an emergency situation.


In addition to a Traction Control System, Vehicle Stability Management is available on top-ofthe range models and promotes stable car manoeuvring when the car may be liable to skidding. The model offers a choice of two powderiest: a 3.3lt V6 engine producing 270 bipes and up to 318 Nm of torque and a 2.4lt 4-cylinder unit delivering 176bhp and maximum torque of 227 Nm.


Customers have a choice of 2 or 4WD, and six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. Santa Fe offers a range of innovative features and technologies that include Smart Navigation, a rear parking camera, an automatic rain sensor, an electronic parking brake, a premium hi-fi system with 4.3'' TFT-LCD display and virtual surround system, and a vast panoramic sunroof.
