(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Oman Fibre Optic Company (OFOC) recently announced the commencement of the commercial production of optical fibre cables at its new factory in Al Rusayl Industrial Estate, following the completion of the factory building, installation of the latest machinery and the implementation of pilot production.
The old factory was completely destroyed in a fire 15 months ago.
Mohammed bin Harith al-Barashdi, CEO, OFOC, said The company had fulfilled a promised made to customers that it will be soon manufacturing and supplying high quality optic cables.
He added that the new plant will cater to both the domestic and export markets, as the new factory is equipped with the latest machinery manactured in Finland - one of the leading producers of the equipment used for manufacturing optic fibre cables.
In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), he added that the new factory will produce all types of cables for internal and external usage, in addition to the production of specialised cables, such as micro types, long-distance, all-dielectric self-supporting (ADSS) fire-resistant cables, non-metallic cables and metal-armored cables.
He pointed out that OFOC provides integrated services for telecommunications solutions for its clients in the country and in neighbouring countries, including for the design of various types of optical cables and different types of communications and networking projects.
