(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) has floated Request for Proposals (RFP) for a master concessionaire of duty free, retail and food & beverages (F&B) services at the new Salalah airport.
''OAMC is inviting qualified businesses with airport concession experience to participate in the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the master concessionaire at the new Salalah Airport,'' OAMC said in a tender announcement on its website.
The last date to purchase the RFP document is March 20, 2013, while the submission date is May 8, 2014. The concessionaire covers the exclusive management of duty free, retail and F&B at the new airport.
Sheikh Samer al Nabhani, general manager, commercial operations, OAMC, earlier told Muscat Daily that the contract for the Salalah airport master concessionaire is expected to be awarded by July this year.
He said that the RFPs will be issued for retail, duty free and F&B concessions at the new Muscat airport, probably in the second half of this year.
The Salalah airport handled around 745,000 passengers in 2013, a growth of 18.5 per cent, compared with around 629,000 passengers handled in the previous year.
The new terminal in Salalah envisages a capacity expansion to 1mn passengers annually in the first stage, and 2mn passengers in the second stage.
The project may be expanded to increase the capacity of the airport to 6mn passengers per annum in the final stage on increased demand.
The airport's expansion is part of a strategic plan to develop Salalah as a tourist destination.
