Six people dead, some 43 injured in Lebanese Tripoli clashes


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Six people were killed and 43 injured as armed clashes intensified in the Lebanese northern city of Tripoli on Friday



An informed source told KUNA that clashes were ongoing in various parts of the city, fueling fear and tensions among families in the city who were hearing sporadic sound of mortars and machine guns, amid attempts by the Lebanese army to respond to the source of gun fire and patrol the area to restore security



The source said the roads are empty due to random sniper gun shots, while schools are shut down due to the deteriorating security situation

Earlier, local media reported five people were killed and 39 others injured in clashes between rival local gunmen in Bab Al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen neighborhoods, the areas where intensified clashes occur.
