Chinese warships expand search for missing Malaysian plane

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Eight Chinese vessels continued their search for a missing Malaysian airliner in the Gulf of Thailand, combing a total of 34, 000 square km., state-run Xinhua News Agency reported Friday



The Chinese operation of searching for the lost Malaysia Airlines flight MH 370 has involved air, water and undersea dimensions, and expanded to the northwest, southwest and southeast, the report said. On Thursday alone, an area of 16,000 square km was scoured



Jinggangshan, which cruised into position on Tuesday, has put all its equipments into full use, including helicopters and steamboats, to try to find anything that related to the missing jetliner, but in vain



It was reported that Chinese warships will continue to broaden the search area to the northwest in the Gulf of Thailand before new search plans come out. The multinational hunt entered day seven for the Beoing 777 aircraft, which mysteriously disappeared from radar early Saturday morning while carrying 239 people en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. No solid leads about its whereabouts have been found so far
