(MENAFN - #Qatar News Agency) #UAE on Wednesday condemned statements by Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Maliki in which he claimed that #SaudiArabia supports terrorism.



Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Gargash summoned Iraq's Ambassador to Abu Dhabi Muwaffaq Mehdi Abboud and handed him a tough memorandum in which the #UAE denounced al-Maliki allegation



Gargash said that statements are baseless and "are not based on any correct assessment of te situation in the region with regards to terrorism," adding that Riyadh plays a "prominent role in fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," state news agency WAM reporte




He said that the UAE, "out of its commitment and role in fighting the epidemic of terrorism, greatly appreciates the contributions by #SaudiArabia in this field and commends its policies and its practical initiatives that are intended to uproot the phenomenon of terrorism
