UAE to Stage First Leg of Indian Premier League

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The United Arab Emirates will stage the initial phase of the Indian Premier League 7 while Bangladesh is kept on standby for some of the matches by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Matches of the initial phase of IPL 7 will be played at venues in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah from April 16 to 30, according to a Times of India repor

BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel today said in a statement, "The BCCI is pleased to announce that the 2014 Pepsi IPL season will start on April 16 and conclude on June 1." The tournament is partly shifted out of India due to general election

The final phase will be held in India from May 13 though the BCCI has sought the government's permission to stage matches in the country from May

The early return to India would be possible only if the government agrees to provide security to the tournament in states where polling would have concluded at that stage
