UK retail sales slower in Feb


(MENAFN) The British Retail Consortium (BRC) said that retail sales in the country increased at a slower pace in February, Xinhua reported



Retail sales in the UK fell 1 percent last month from the same month a year before, versus a 2.7 percent increase in February 2013, a survey by BRC and KPMG



Online sales surged 14.3 percent year-on-year in February, while online penetration rate stood at 17.5 percent last month



Head of retail at KPMG said: "February saw a hiatus on the high street, with online sales soaring while in store sales stalled. There's no doubt inclement weather exacerbated this trend, but it certainly underscores the importance of having a sophisticated online operation.
