Omanuna Amanah seeks protection for public utilities

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) At the recently concluded Muscat Festival, a makeshift studio was put up at the Amerat park and TV and radio shows were produced in which those associated with Omanuna Amanah campaign expressed the urgency on the need to conserve the public utilities and other resources that are designed to serve the community.

A series of interesting initiatives were also taken at the Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) stall at the Festival to educate the visitors about this national issue.

MEDC has the responsibility of supervising the National Media Campaign for one year. A result of the efforts of about 23 governmental and private organizations, Omanuna Amanah is based on the conviction that Oman is a treasure to be cherished and preserved.

And that it is the duty of all citizens and residents to be aware of the importance of state assets and property and protect them against any distortion.

In a popular TV show ‘Hala Muscat', Ali bin Juma al Masherfi, head of distribution operations at MEDC said, ''The government has spent millions of rials on the creation of parks, on providing water and sewerage facilities, power-lines and other facilities, even to the most rugged and difficult to reach areas. Many a time, these facilities and assets are exposed to damage and tampering by some irresponsible people. Such behaviour is not correct. Omanuna Amanah strongly advocates that everyone has a role that is no less important than that of the concerned authorities for the maintenance of these facilities.''
