EU renewable energy consumption up to 14 percent in 2012


(MENAFN) European Union (EU) statistical office Eurostat said that energy from renewable sources has contributed with 14.1 percent of the gross final energy consumption in the region, Xinhua reported



Since the share of renewable sources in gross final consumption was 8.3 percent in 2004, the share of renewable sources grew in all EU member states



Sweden logged the largest increase during the period with an increase from 38.7 percent in 2002 to 51 percent in 2012



The share of renewable sources in Denmark in the period increased from 14.5 percent to 26 percent, while in Austria it increased from 22.7 percent to 32.1 percent
