Pistorius sick as autopsy evidence read out

(MENAFN- Kora) Pistorius shot Ms Steenkamp on February 14, 2013 and is charged with the "wilful and intentional murder" of his then girlfriend

The South African Olympic and Paralympic athlete denies the accusations, insisting that he mistook Ms Steenkamp for an intruder

Parts of the trial at Pretoria High Court are being televised in South Africa, although Judge Thokozile Masipa has banned all autopsy evidence from being broadcast after pathologist Gert Saayman successfully argued that the details of the report may compromise the "dignity of the deceased.

Pistorius blocked both his ears and sobbed as professor Saayman read out the graphic evidence of Ms Steenkamp's injuries.

Only a matter of minutes into the testimony Pistorius' defence lawyer Barry Roux requested for proceedings to be adjourned because the 27-year-old had vomited

The court did break briefly but, although Pistorius was unable to compose himself, Roux stressed that the six-time Paralympic gold medallist wanted the evidence to continue

A summary of professor Saayman's findings could well be broadcast at a later date, although the court has yet to come to an agreement on this issue

The trial continues
