Root out of England's World Twenty20 squad

(MENAFN- Kora) Root sustained the injury in England's 25-run win over the West Indies in the third and final one-day international between the sides on March 5

The 23-year-old went on to score 107 despite suffering the blow just three balls into his innings, inspiring his country to a 2-1 series win in the Caribbean

But Root, who also operates as a frontline spinner in the limited overs format of the game, will now miss out on the T20 tournament in Bangladesh

Bell will take his place in the side despite not featuring in a T20 match in just over three years, with his last appearance in the shortest format coming against Australia back in January 2011

The news comes less than 24 hours after captain Stuart Broad confirmed he would miss the rest of the three-match T20 series with West Indies due to a knee injury that was aggravated in Sunday's 27-run loss

England travel to the subcontinent looking to regain the title they won back in 2010 and start their campaign against New Zealand in Chittagong on March 22
