Saudi Arabia Censures Iraq PM "Aggressive and Irresponsible" Statements

(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Saudi Arabia has expressed "disapproval and astonishment" over comments by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki it deemed "aggressive and irresponsible" after he accused Riyadh in an interview with France24 of supporting terrorism in Iraq, an official Saudi source told state news agency SPA. Al-Malki is aware of Saudi Arabia's "clear and unequivocal position against terrorism in all its forms and whatever its source," the source said. "He knows well about the great efforts being exerted by the kingdom in combating terror at both the local and global levels, putting our country at the forefront countries addressing the phenomenon. Instead of throwing haphazard accusations against others and sending clear signals for sectarian and exclusionary approach from his government against the components of the Iraqi people, the Iraqi prime minister should rather take the suitable policies to put an end to the daily chaos and violence overwhelming his country." "It is clear that the purpose of these statements is an attempt to push realities upside-down and blame others of the current situation to cover up the failures of the Iraqi government in the internal affairs whereas Iraq was placed under the service of regional parties and contributed to stoke sectarian strife in Iraq in an unprecedented way that threatens Iraq's national unity and territorial integrit
