Egypt: Peace Negotiations Should Lead to Independent Palestinian State


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Egypt's Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy met Monday with a delegation from the U.N.



Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, currently on a visit to Cair



During the meeting, Fahmy lauded the important role of the committee in preserving the basic rights of the Palestinian people, particularly the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, Egyptian foreign ministry spokesman Badr Abdelatty said. Fahmy reiterated the paramount importance of commitment to all references of the peace process as principles of international legitimacy that can't be altered, stressing the necessity that negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital based on 1967 border

Committee voiced its appreciation of the historic Egyptian role in supporting the Palestinian issue, noting that the committee is facing new challenges to secure the Palestinian people's basic legitimate right
