Arab League Praises Qatar's Role in Establishing Stability in Sudan


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Arab Ministerial Council praised Monday the efforts of the State of Qatar of establishing peace and stability in Sudan. They welcomed the signing of a peace agreement between the Sudanese Government and the Justice and Equality Movement in Doha on April 6,2013. The council called on other rebel groups in Sudan to join the agreement, the last of which was the Doha Document for Peace in 2011. The council also called on Arab countries to communicate with the international community and the United Nations in order to prevent any funding of such groups. The council also praised the outcomes of the International Donor Conference for Reconstruction and Development in Darfur, which was held in Doha in April 2013. At the conclusion of its 141st session, the council stressed its commitment to supporting the Sudanese government, particularly in negotiating over the Abyei area, among other territorial disputes with the South of Suda
