(MENAFN- Arab Times) Kuwait is to suggest the establishment of a center for the protection of patients' rights in the Arab world during the 41st session of the Arab Health Ministers' council due to be held in Cairo on March 11-13, Health Minister Dr Ali Al-Obaidi announced Monday. The two-day meeting will discuss some essential topics such as health situation for the Syrian refugees and the displaced, strategy to fight the HIV/AIDS disease, mothers' health and wellbeing and polio affecting Syrian children, Al-Obaidi told the press. He added that the council will also tackle pharmaceutical integration among Arab countries, the establishment of a center for the protection of patients' rights, the management of hazardous pharmaceutical waste and countering chronic non-communicable diseases
Following-up on agreements made during the "ASPA" summit, held in Peru 2012, as well as the "Lime Declaration" that focused on holding joint cooperation between the Arab Health Ministers Council and South American countries will be sheld light on in the meeting. A report on Arabizing health sciences will be reviewed and recommendations on blood transfusion regulations will be covered. The meeting will also discuss preparations for the Arab Economic and Social Development due to be held in Tunisia in 2015
Meanwhile, Director of Primary Health Care Department at the Ministry of Health (Capital Zone) Dr Fatima Al-Asoumi has disclosed the zone will conduct a health survey in line with the recommendation issued by the World Health Organization, reports Al-Anba daily. She indicated 970 people of both sexes from different residential areas will be chosen for a medical test which will be carried out at the Qortuba Health Center

In a press statement, she said, the minimum age of people who are eligible for test in 19. She added the survey is aimed at identifying the factors which cause non-infectious chronic diseases such as cardiac diseases, diabetes and respiratory ailments. She stressed on the importance of collaboration with the staff in charge of the survey by the citizens. She disclosed the length of the program is three months. In another development, sources disclosed a coordination meeting will be held over the next few days with representatives of the concerned ministries and authorities which are in charge of carrying out new construction projects such as at the Ministry of Public Works, the Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Electricity and Water, the Ministry of Communications and the Environment of Public Authority
Sources said the meeting will be tasked with preparing an integral report, in line with instructions given by HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak, to identify the obstacles which impede the implementation of the development projects. Sources also said, the report will be referred to the Prime Minister once it is completed. In another development, Director of Zain Center for Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgery Dr Basil Al-Sabah announced the inauguration of a new audio clinic at Amiri Hospital in May, reports Al-Anba daily. Al-Sabah disclosed this is one of several projects in the pipeline to decentralize specialties in Sabah Health District
In a related development, sources revealed the clinic will provide hearing test service to enable the Amiri Hospital to expand its ENT specialty after opening the clinic in May. Sources said another ENT center will be inaugurated at Mubarak Al-Kaber Hospital in July. They added the hospital administration has been constructing the center to accommodate five clinics for ear, nose and throat; in addition to the existing two clinics. They disclosed one of the two existing clinics has been shut down for construction works while the other one is operational. Hoping that Mubarak Al-Kaber Hospital will later construct a complete ENT Department, sources affirmed this will reduce burden on Zain Hospital , because it will admit patients for operation like Farwaniya, Jahra and Adan hospitals
