Oman EPC projects summit focuses on best practices


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A number of regional and international experts from the oil and gas and petrochemical sectors met in Muscat on Monday on the first day of the third annual Oman EPC Projects Summit to share their views on best practices.


Over 120 international EPC leaders took part in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) summit, organised by IQPC and Global Exhibitions and Conferences (GEC) at Crowne Plaza Muscat.


The summit will explore key topics, including the pricing of an EPC project, challenges faced by both the EPC contractor and project owners during project execution, analysing best practices in contracting and procurement strategies, and in-country value (ICV), local community contractors and risk management for EPC projects.


The first day of the summit included case studies and presentations by experts including,  Mohamed Daoud, team leader - quality control engineering and major projects at ADCO, Madhu Pillai, projects director at Kentz Engineering International, Mohammed Hammad, projects execution director, Saudi Aramco and Khalaf Hamda, team leader – major projects at Kuwait Oil.


Pillai said, ''Oman is witnessing massive growth in the oil and gas sector projects. This growth has created a huge scope for EPC contractors in oil and gas sector. There are frequent changes happening in EPC projects and we need to be prepared with best practices to meet these challenges.''


The second day of the summit will focus on best practices EPC case studies and ICV delivery to be presented by experts.


Experts from regional oil and gas companies and shared their personal experience of working on mega projects and  managing stakeholders.
