S. Korean President to Hold Summit with Canadian Premier Tuesday


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) South Korea's President Park Geun-hye will hold a summit in Seoul on Tuesday with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harpe



The presidential office says the two leaders are expected to discuss ways to upgrade a notch bilateral relations that have steadily developed over the years, according to Korea's (KBS WORLD) websit



During the summit at the presidential office, the two leaders will also discuss boosting substantive cooperation in areas of trade and investment, energy, science and technology, arctic affairs and forestr



The Canadian prime minister expressed hope to conclude a free trade agreement with South Korea during his visit to Seoul on Monday and Tuesda



Free trade talks between Korea and Canada began in 2005 but have been deadlocked over disagreements on auto exports and Canadian beef import



Park and Harper will also discuss Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asian affair



Seoul's presidential office noted Canada is a traditional South Korean ally that sent the third most troops to support the South during the Korean Wa



The office added Canada is also a strong backer of Seoul's North Korea policie



Park and Harper held their first summit last October on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Bali, Indonesi



The presidential office expects their second summit will help deepen trust and ties between the leaders personally as well as between the two countries.
