Vietnam's Mekong Delta aims for USD2.55b shrimp exports


(MENAFN) The Mekong delta provinces in southern Vietnam have set a target for shrimp exports in 2014 USD50 billion higher than last year's, Xinhua reported



The provinces are aiming for a USD2.55 billion turnover from shrimp exports this year, local media reported



The Mekong Delta provinces are to expand shrimp breading areas in coastal regions of a Mau, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang, Soc Trang and Tra Vinh to 596,000 ha to meet the target



Last year, the country came in third place among the world's shrimp exporters, as total exports hit USD2.5 billion, increasing 33 percent from the year before it and accounting for 44 percent of total aquatic exports
