Hamilton 'fired up' for new F1 season

(MENAFN- Kora) The Mercedes driver cut a frustrated figure at times during the 2013 campaign as Sebastian Vettel romped to a fourth straight F1 title for Red Bull

The German won 13 races, including the last nine of the season, while Hamilton had just a solitary success at the Hungarian Grand Prix

However, the Brit has performed well in pre-season testing and is considered by many to be the favourite for the 2014 championship, with Vettel having encountered reliability and pace issues in testing

Hamilton is now itching to begin the new campaign, which begins in Melbourne, Australia, on March 16, as he targets a second world title to add to his 2008 success

"I think we're as ready as we can be for Melbourne and I'm more fired up than ever," Hamilton is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

"With all the changes within the sport and the hard work that's been going on within the team, I believe this can be our year to really show what we're capable of

"That's not to take anything away from our opposition, who will be incredibly tough to beat as always, but I feel like I'm equipped with the tools I need to succeed. I can't wait to get started.
