US Defense Chief to Visit Japan in Early April


(MENAFN- Arab Times) US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is set to visit Japan in early April to discuss security issues with his Japanese counterpart Itsunori Onodera.



Hagel and Onodera are expected to discuss a planned revision to bilateral defense cooperation guidelines and how to implement the contentious relocation of the US Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station within Okinawa Prefecture in line with a bilateral accord, according to Japan's News Agency (Kyodo



Hagel is also arranging meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida to discuss issues such as the importance of improving ties between Japan and South Korea ahead of President Barack Obama's visit to Japan in late April
