Two gold awarded as shooting tourney kicks off


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Two gold medals were awarded in the Third HH the Amir International Award for Shooting; in addition to two competitions - Double Trap for men (150 discs) and Skeet for women (75 discs) from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Sunday. The Seventh Asian Championship for guns includes the distribution of three gold medals in the rifle competition for men (10 meters), as well as for the men and women categories (10 meters). The official final classification took place on the same day for gun - men category (10 meters), and for young men and women (10 meters)



In a related development, the Qatari Shooting Team is one of the participants in the championship for gun and rifle. Both events were officially launched Sunday. Meanwhile, Minister of Information, State Minister for Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Asian Shooting Confederation Sheikh Salman Al-Hummoud said the ministry has agreed on the establishment of the Kuwaiti-Asian Fund for supporting the shooting sports in Asia.



He hailed the success of the meeting of the confederation in Kuwait on Saturday, disclosing they discussed reports of committees on the need to improve the sports sector in Asia. He also expressed appreciation to the members of the confederation for the tremendous efforts they continue to exert in order to develop the shooting sports. On the other hand, Chairman of the Italian Shooting Confederation Luciano Rossi expressed his happiness over the launching of HH the Amir Championship. He considers it an important international sports event, affirming it has been experiencing developments in all levels. He thanked the State of Kuwait and the Kuwaiti Shooting Confederation for inviting him to witness the championship
