Kuwait after advanced place in Expo Milano "15 - official

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Undersecretary of Kuwait's Ministry of Information Salah Mansour Al-Mubaraki on Friday highlighted the importance of Expo Milano 2015 in shedding light on Kuwait role in addressing the major global challenges

"Kuwait contributes a lot to the efforts aiming to secure food and energy to the world population which is very relevant to the theme of the Expo," Al-Mubaraki, the Ministry's high commissioner to the event, told KUNA, referring to the theme of "Feeding the Planet - Energy for Life." "The State of Kuwait, out of keenness on securing an advanced position in the global event, signed yesterday a contract with the Swiss world-renowned Nussli Group on the construction of Kuwait pavilion at the Expo," he pointed out

"The higher commission, overseeing Kuwait participation, visited Milan for the second time to make sure of the arrangements for the global event, due to start in May, 2015," Al-Mubaraki noted

He voiced confidence that good planning and inter-agency collaboration will help achieve the desired results of Kuwait participation in the Expo

Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity and Water Mohammad Bushehri said, in a similar statement to KUNA, that the Kuwaiti higher commission chose "challenging nature" as a label for Kuwait pavilion which is also relevant to the theme of the Expo and informed the organizing committee of that

"The label sums up the achievements made by Kuwait in her struggle against scarcity of fresh water and other natural resources," Bushehri, a member of the commission, said

"Kuwait strove for long years to overcome this problem through introducing the latest technologies in the field of seawater desalination. The country, once poor in water, managed to possess the largest strategic water reserve in the Middle East," he explained

Bushehri noted that the pavilion will showcase the various stages of that transformation, and the technologies and gigantic constructions in the field of water desalination

On his part, Dr. Mohammad Al-Rashed, member of the commission and executive director of water research center, said the pavilion will serve as Kuwait window on the world

"Visitors of the pavilion will be able to see the achievements made by various Kuwait departments in field of sustainable development, renewable energies, desalination of water and reducing overreliance on the oil resources, " he said

"The state departments joined forces in planning for our participation and will be represented at the event. Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) will be represented by its water research center," Al-Rashed went on

The layout of the Kuwaiti pavilion will highlight Kuwait's civilized aspect while taking stock of the good location and big area of the pavilion, he noted, adding that the higher commission is following up the planning and designing of the pavilion carefully and constantly

Mejbel Abdulaziz Al-Ayyob, member of the commission and representative of Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), said KFAS works closely with other scientific institutions, notably Kuwait University, to bring to the limelight the scientific achievements and innovations made by Kuwait

On a similar note, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information Tareq Al-Mezrem said the second visit of the high commission was extensively covered by the Italian and foreign media

"The media interest in Kuwait pavilion reflects the success of the Ministry's strategy for delivering Kuwait's civilized message to the world," Al-Mezrem, deputy high commission to the Expo, added

Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sami Abdulaziz Al-Hamad said the success of the Kuwaiti delegation and the singing of the contract with Nussli Group are the fruit of strenuous efforts made by the high commission over the last two years since Kuwait decided to take part in the global event

"The decision is in keeping with the instructions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to strengthen Kuwait presence on the international arena notably the political, humanitarian and cultural levels," Al-Hamad added

Consul General in Milan and North Italy Abdulnasser Bukhadour commended the special location, spaciousness and label of the pavilion, expecting it to win an advanced position among the 140 competitors

He affirmed the Consulate's readiness to facilitate the participation of all Kuwaiti work teams, companies and visitors in collaboration with the concerned Italian agencies
