Saudi Arabia Labels Several Groups As Terrorist Organizations


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Saudi Arabia on Friday named a number of parties, groups and factions and listed them as "terrorist groups". According to Saudi press agency (SPA), the list included Al-Qaida Organization, Al-Qaida Organization in the Arabian Peninsula, Al-Qaida Organization in Yemen, Al-Qaida Organization in Iraq, Daish, Alnusra Front, Hezbollah in the Kingdom, the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-huthi Group.



The Saudi Interior Ministry said in a statement carries by SPA that the list was made by a committee with members from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowment, Call, and Guidance, Ministry of Justice, Court of Grievances, and Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution. The statement added that the task of the committee which formation was authorized by a royal order, is to file a list (to be updated periodically).



The recommendations of the committee included criminalizing taking part in, calling for, or promoting the fighting in conflicts in other countries as well as being members or endorses parties, organizations, groups, factions, or gatherings which are locally, regionally or internationally classified as extremist or terrorist. The Ministry stressed that they will update this list periodically in accordance with the mandate of the Royal Order. It also called on all to fully abide by its directives, and warned at the same time that the Ministry will not be lenient or tolerant in enforcing its terms.



The statement said that these rules will be will be enforced, effective Sunday March 9, 2014, adding that those who took part in any way in the fighting outside the Kingdom are given an extra extension period of 15 days as of the issuance of this statement to rethink their position and return immediately home.
