(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Member of Fatah Central Committee, Mohammad Ishtayeh, said Wednesday that Israel's refusal to tackle core issues, such as settlement activities, borders, Jerusalem and refugees issue, is the real obstacle to successful outcomes to the current negotiations.
Speaking to a visiting French Parliamentarian delegation in Ramallah, Ishtayeh said that demanding Palestinians to recognize Israel as a 'Jewish state' is not the only obstacle that stands in the way of successful negotiation
Ishtayeh added: "focusing on non-essential issues such as recognizing Israel as a Jewish state while ignoring core issues, is what is dooming negotiations to fail, reported the Palestinian news agency Waf
Ishtayeh renewed his calls for the European states, as members of the international quartet, to play an active role in the negotiation process and noted that Israel continues to foil the efforts of U.S.
