(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The141st session of the Arab League Council began on Wednesday at the Arab League General Secretariat headquarters at the level of the Permanent Representatives to prepare for the Arab summit to be held in Kuwait on March 25-26.
HE Ambassador, Seif Bin Muqaddam Al-Buainain,Qatar's Permanent Representative at the Arab League attended the session which was presided over by Ambassador Mohammed Alami, Morocco's permanent delegate at the Arab League who succeeded Libya's representative to the Arab League Ashour Burashed .The session was also attended by the Arab League Deputy Secretary-General Ambassador Ahmed Ben Helli
Then the session turned into a closed session during which the council discussed topics tabled on its agenda, inter-alia 25 items such as the joint Arab action, political, economic, social, financial , administrative and security issues , particularly the report of the Arab League Secretary -General containing the Arab League development process , activities of the Arab League General Secretariat in two terms and the agenda of 25th session of the Arab summit which will kick off in Kuwait on March 25-26
The council discussed the draft statute of the pan-Arab court of human rights and the proposal presented by the Sultanate of Oman to re-examine the work of the ministerial committees at the Arab League Council , the Palestine cause, the Arab-Israeli conflict , the situation in the Golan Heights, pan-arab solidarity with Lebanon and the latest developments of the situation in Syria , Libya and Yemen
The agenda also includes effective means to counter international terrorism, Arab relations with the regional and international groupings such as Arab-African , Arab -European , Arab-Asian and Arab-Turkish relations and Arab- South American countries relations in addition to the social files regarding formulation of a unified Arab strategy for the civilizations dialogue as well as forming Afro-Arab committees for Immigration issues and the relationship between the Arab Women's Organization and the Arab League
The council formed four working committees such as the Political Committee, the Economic committee, the Social Committee and the Legal Committee to discuss each of them their own issues and prepare recommendations to be submitted to the permanent representatives of the Arab countries to the Arab League in preparation for approval at the end of their meeting tomorrow, Thursda
