UN Security Council to Focus on Children, Monitor Syria, Ukraine


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The UN Security Council will focus on children in armed conflicts, while monitoring the situations in Syria and Ukraine during March, Sylvie Lucas, ambassador from Luxembourg and current president of the council, said Tuesday.



Lucas, whose country holds the council's rotating presidency for the first time this month, said she hopes to pass a resolution to strengthen protections for children in conflict



With developments in Ukraine that have already prompted the council to hold two emergency meetings this month, Lucas said she would monitor the situation closely and was ready to convene further emergency consultations at any tim



The council will hold three meetings on Syri



One of the consultations will be dedicated to review the progress of aid distribution after the council passed a binding resolution on humanitarian access two weeks ag
