Over 750 shooters expected to participate in Amir, Asian Cups


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Organizing Committee for the championships of the third session of the Amir Shooting Cup and the 7th Asian Rifle and Pistol Shooting Cup has started preparations to receive the participating delegations that are expected to arrive 48 hours before the beginning of the competitions



In a press statement recently, the committee disclosed the delegations from Oman and Lebanon were among those who arrived in the country early to prepare for the competition at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Fields Complex



The committee is also making arrangements to welcome the VIP guests, heads of national unions and representatives of Asian, Arab and international federations. It expects the participation of more than 750 shooters in the two championships; disclosing the opening ceremony will be held on Saturday with the attendance of the official representative of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah - Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Hammoud



Meanwhile, Technical Director of the Malaysian delegation Jasni Shari has affirmed that the Amir Cartouche Shooting Cup is an important event considering the participation of international Olympic champions in the shooting field. He added 31 countries represented by 400 shooters will participate in the Asian Cup, indicating the number surpassed those who joined the competition in Thailand last year. He also mentioned that the 29 participants representing Kuwait are very promising, revealing he expects stiff competition among the shooters in both championships



Moreover, Lebanese shooter George Assi said he is keen on taking part in the Amir Cup as it is one of the best championships at the international level. He also praised the Sheikh Sabah Shooting Complex, describing it as well-equipped; revealing there are 20 shooters who will represent his country in the Skeet, Trap and Double Trap Shooting
