Hirscher, Svindal set for battle in Slovenia

(MENAFN- Kora) With just two rounds of the men's 2014 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup remaining, Hirscher - the reigning overall champion - trails Norway's Svindal in the overall standings

Svindal (1032 points) leads Hirscher (955) and France's Alexis Pinturault (774) heading into two giant slalom events in Kranjska Gora on Friday and Saturday

Hirscher has already won two giant slalom races this season to top the standings in that discipline, while with the slalom set for Sunday, the 25-year-old Austrian will have a big opportunity to finish the weekend ahead of Svindal, who specialises in downhill and Super G

Pinturault's outside chances of the overall title will also rest on this weekend in Slovenia with the 22-year-old Frenchman 258 points behind Svindal

With downhill, Super G, giant slalom and slalom races scheduled for the final round in Lenzerheide from March 12-16, good results from Hirscher and Pinturault could set up a nail-biting finish to this year's FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup
