US manufacturing activity picks up speed


(MENAFN) Manufacturing in the US picked up speed last month following two months of weak growth, Xinhua reported



The purchasing managers index (PMI) came at 53.2 percent, up 1.9 percentage points from the month before it



This marks the ninth straight month of manufacturing growth in the country, while overall economy expanded for 57th month in a row



The New Orders Index came at 54.5 percent, up 3.3 percentage points, and the Production Index decreased 6.6 percentage points down to 48.2 percent
