US consumer spending up 0.4 percent in Jan


(MENAFN) Consumer spending in the US increased in January due to weather conditions hiking energy bills, Xinhua reported



The country's Commerce Department said that spending increased 0.4 percent in January, following a 0.1 percent increase in the month before it



Spending on services increased 0.9 percent, after a 0.1 percent increase in December, while spending on durables and nondurables dipped 0.6 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively



The department said that spending on health care services increased USD29 billion in the month
