The charges, which include firearms offences, were read out by judge Thokozile Matilda Masipa and Pistorius pleaded not guilty to each one as the trial at Pretoria High Court was partially broadcast
It is the first time in South Africa that a trial has been televised live, although only certain parts of the proceedings will be shown and the judge can switch off the cameras at any point
Pistorius' trial is scheduled to run until March 20
