Series win in sight for England

(MENAFN- Kora) After a humiliating tour of Australia, England made a poor start to their time in the Caribbean, suffering a 15-run defeat on Friday

However, a nerve-jangling three-wicket triumph on Sunday levelled the three-match ODI rubber and provided England with a welcome boost

After giving up a position of apparent strength in the series-opener, Stuart Broad's side threatened to do so again when collapsing from 79-2 to 105-7 in pursuit of a modest target of 160

However, Broad rode his luck to offer valuable support to the ice-cool Ravi Bopara in an unbroken seventh-wicket partnership of 58 that got England over the line

The tourists will hope to build on the momentum gained in that win as they seek to complete only their second ODI series success in the Caribbean

Lancashire spinner Stephen Parry was named man-of-the-match in Sunday's clash, after taking advantage of a spin-friendly wicket to return figures of 3-32 on his international debut

The 28-year-old is confident England can secure a series win when Antigua plays host to a third successive 50-over game on Wednesday

Despite England's recent struggles, Parry insists belief in the dressing room is high and told the ECB website: "Since I've been in the camp it's been unbelievable. The last few days the morale has been fantastic

"Now that we've squared the series it would be really nice to win it

"To come back from 1-0 shows we have got good character, and we're starting to rebuild and go in the right direction.

Spinner Sunil Narine has represented West Indies' main threat with the ball so far and will be out to cause more problems, while middle-order batsman Lendl Simmons goes in search of a third successive half-century

England saw Michael Lumb mark his ODI debut with a hundred on Friday and the left-hander also top-scored for his side in game two with 39

Wednesday's final 50-over clash will be followed by three Twenty20 internationals between West Indies and England as both sides gear up for the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh
