Belgian Deputy Premier and FM Meets HE Qatar's Ambassador


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders, met here on Monday HE Sheikh Ali Bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium as part of his participation in the dinner ceremony which was hosted by the Belgian Villa Empain Foundation on the occasion of the opening ceremony of its artistic show entitled "A book between two stools".



During the meeting , they exchanged view points on a set of matters of mutual interest and discussed how best to further promote and develop the qatari-belgian relations. The Belgian Villa Empain Foundation was built between 1931 and 1934 for Baron Louis Empai



The re-use of this building as the headquarters of a foundation which aims at spreading knowledge and at the reconciliation between eastern and western cultures, is a supplementary merit of this project." In 2006 the Boghossian Foundation bought Villa Empain, a masterpiece of Art Deco heritage, to use as their headquarters and to create a centre of art and dialogue between the cultures of East and West. This beautiful residence, built between 1931 and 1934 for Baron Louis Empain, was in a state of complete disrepair and needed a thorough restoratio



The villa's marble halls are now packed with art treasures from the Ottoman Empir



The collections of delicately tinted Iznik ceramics; erotic harem paintings; Bursa textiles and exquisite pages of 13th century calligraphy have been drawing in crowds since the "Colors of the Orient" exhibition opened in November.
