LT wins RO97mn road project in Oman

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Indian engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced on Monday that its transportation and infrastructure business has bagged an order worth R15.5bn (approximately RO97mn) from Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communications for the construction of a road between Bidbid-Sur section (second phase, first part).

In a press release issued on Monday, L&T said that the scope of its works involved widening of the existing 76km two-lane road into a three-lane dual carriageway, construction of ten arch-type interchanges, five vehicular underpasses, seven single-cell pedestrian underpasses, and 15km of linked and service roads along the stretch.

''When completed, the project will transform the existing single-lane carriageway into an all-weather motorway, on which vehicles can be driven at a speed of 120km per hour,'' L&T said.

S N Subrahmanyan, member of the board and senior EVP at L&T, said, ''This order augers well for L&T's business expansion plans in the GCC markets.''
