(MENAFNEditorial) For forth successful year the Russia & CIS Executive Summit gathered together in Dubai the highest level executives in the Oil & Gas Industry, to reveal their future plans for development, discuss the challenges and opportunities that the industry in this region is facing today and share their experience on attracting investments and major projects financing.
This year the Executive Summit was kindly co-hosted by the leading Russian Oil company – ROSNEFT which participated at the event with 2 presentations and large delegation of top level managers. The unconventional format of the event encouraged interesting discussions among the participants and let them share their points of view on the pressing issues brought up by senior representatives of leading consultants, financiers, investors, technology and service providers during the presentations, discussions and panel session.

The Welcome speech of the first day was addressed by Avril Conroy, Director Regional Sales Department, Rosneft who also brought up insights from current finished integration of TNK-BP's retail sales into Rosneft's structure. The first session of the event was dedicated to market overviews and current global trends in Oil & Gas, presented by key independent consultants such as IHS and NEXANT
Regulations and their industry impact was one of the sessions that raised attention of the audience with presentations from Deloitte, Ministry of Finance of RF, Sibur and Uniter Investment Company, which covered current tax, customs and tariffs regulations and the expected forthcoming changes up to 2016, Russian experience in collaboration between government and business, opportunities for M&A and participation in the reconstruction of Petrochemical complex in Belarus
Later the same day the leading technology providers Axens, A.T. Kearney and Shell Global Solutions, contributed to the conference agenda, presenting practical examples of successfully long-term strategic planning through innovations and transforming of oil companies. Invensys, Neste Jacobs and SAP provided important information on how to choose the best option among multiple for achieving operational excellence and how to use modern technologies, automation & software solutions to unlock the potential of that process which most of the attendees found very useful and applicable.
As the importance of achieving Operational Excellence is growing and becoming particularly relevant in Russia & CIS, the organisers from Euro Petroleum Consultants decided to hold an event especially dedicated to this topic. That would be OpEx Russia & CIS 2014: Operational Excellence in Oil, Gas & Petrochemicals, which will take place in Moscow this April (24 & 25 April 2014). This event will be held back to back with the already established Russia & CIS BBTC Conference (Bottom of the Barrel Technology Conference), which will be held on 22 – 23 April at the same venue
As always the Executive Summit provided invaluable networking opportunities and possibility for all attendees to expand their business contacts & sales leads in the region. The usual exhibition area was expanded this year in order to accommodate the 20+ requests for pop up stands, which also contributed to the general atmosphere of the event
The networking was further enhanced by the Impressive Gala Evening sponsored by UOP and held on an open terrace at Armani Oasi Venue located in the famous Burj Khalifa with stunning view to the Dubai dancing fountains
The first half of the second day was dedicated to financing of major projects and attracting investments. High-level representatives of Sberbank and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer covered topics on defining sources of attracting capital for project implementation, main factors for successful project financing and structuring Oil & Gas investments in the CIS region
With special interest were received the presentations of top executives such as: Igor Timofeev, CEO of OMZ, Dmitry Ivanov, Director Major Projects of Gazprom neft, Rik Klavers, Vice President Petrochemicals of KBR Technology, Francois Eijgelshoven, Vice President EMEA Metals Oil & Gas of Quintiq, Evgeniy Storozhuk, Director of Special Oil Products Sales Department of Rosneft who focused on B2B in Russia and International Prospects.
Undoubtedly the most interesting and impressive part of the conference for all delegates was the Producers Panel Session as well as the session dedicated to major projects implementation challenges, main current & planned projects which gathered in an extended discussion top executives such as Tofig Gakhramanov from Socar, Igor Soglaev from Sanors Petrochemical Company, Colin Chapman from Euro Petroleum Consultants, Igor Kuzmin from Rosneft, Maik Kadelbakh from Gazprom Neft, Maxim Sushkevich from KIRISHI-2, Yakov Polunkin from Bashneft and other high-level leaders to discuss their development plans. During the Producers Panel Session all attendees had the exclusive opportunity to raise their questions to the session participants or to share their point of view and experience with the rest of the high-level audience
