Qatar - HE Minister of Youth and Sports Opens AAA Board of Directors'Meeting


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) HE Minister of Youth and Sports Salah bin Ali Al-Ghanem opened on Sunday a meeting for the Board of Directors of the Asian Athletics Association (AAA) being hosted by Qatar for the first time after Qatar Athletics Federation President Dahlan Al Hamad took over the AAA presidency.



HE the Minister welcomed the members of the AAA Board of Directors in Qatar, hoping that the meeting will realize the goals pursued by the Asian continent to advance the sport of athletics and take their rightful place among the nations of the world. HE the Minister of Youth and Sports expressed Qatar's willingness to provide all facilities and assistance to the Asian association to help it make athletics games a success.



He also invited AAA Board of Directors to attend the consultative meeting on the Qatar sport strategy and the future to be held at the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence tomorrow (Monday).



On behalf of the participants, Al Hamad tanked HE the Minister Al Ali for attending the opening session of the AAA annual meeting, saying that his attendance reflects the significance attached by Qatari leadership to the role of sport and its importance in building bridges of friendship among nations.



The meeting discussed several issues, including the approval of the minutes of the 77th Meeting which was held in China in September, reports on the continental championships which were held recently. The meeting also reviewed the tournaments to be organized by the AAA this year and in 2015, in addition to the financial report and the strategic plan, among others.
