FORMER MISS INDIA and Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla was in Dubai yesterday in her role as the newly appointed brand ambassador for local building material company Danube Home. The actress was all praise for the city, saying, “I used to come once in a while to Dubai earlier during my holidays, but over the last year I have had a lot of chances to come here and though they have been very short visits - literally one or two days and then I am back home again - (I’ve enjoyed them). I find Dubai so accessible from our country (India); it is just a two-hour flight. I do believe lots of famous people have homes here. So the idea of having one here is very tempting - but I don’t know if I can manage it. I am attracted towards Dubai because it has grown as an centre of recreation, entertainment, career, restaurants, nightclubs; you have really managed to gather it all. Whether it’s The Palm or  Burj Khalifa, they are making man-made marvels here. It is the efforts of the people behind Dubai who are striving to make a stamp on the globe. It is commendable because when you look at it geographically, it is in the sand. I was amazed last night when I read that Dubai will be the world’s busiest airport replacing London’s Heathrow airport. Wow. You know what that means. Zip zip zip, it is so well connected to other places.”

When quizzed about her association with Danube, she said the main reason she decided to sign on for this position was “because Danube offers all the solutions related to the home from the nut bowl that you need to the chandeliers and curtains and all kinds of furnishing, everything is available. Also, customised service is one of their strongest areas.” In the coming months the actress will be seen promoting the company’s products and services through ads, events and personal appearances.

But before that fans can catch sight of the bubbly actress on the big screen albeit in a negative role in Soumik Sen’s Gulaab Gang alongside Madhuri Dixit.

The movie releases in the UAE this weekend and, if sources are to be believed, the actress along with Ms. Dixit will be back in the city to promote Gulaab Gang in a couple of days.
