(MENAFN) The consultancy services contract for the design of the Qatar Long Distance Railway Network has been awarded to US-based Parsons, Arabian Business reported
The network is to provide freight and passenger services within Qatar and to neighboring countries of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain
Parsons said that the rail network will include a includes six freight facilities, a depot, and seven passenger stations, and will be integrated with the new Doha Metro and is also part of the Gulf Cooperation Council rail network
Parsons MEA president: "This design consultancy project is of strategic importance to the State of Qatar in meeting its national vision, and we look forward to working with Qatar Railways Company to begin work on the project early this year.
