AIESEC Oman uses social media to promote Y2B

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) AIESEC Oman is using social media to create awareness about its Youth to Business (Y2B) forum scheduled to take place on Saturday.

The youth organisation has explained the objective behind the conference on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to invite inputs and ideas from a cross-section of people.

''Facebook and Twitter are very popular media to involve younger generation in any kind of project. We are young and aiming for change. The best way is to use the social media to share and present ideas before the younger generation. That is our target audience,'' said Christina Khouri, vice president, talent management, AIESEC Oman.

The day-long forum will see participation of top young leaders from around the world who will discuss pressing global issues. It aims to generate actionable ideas to shape a better Oman. This year Y2B will focus on leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship with the theme ‘Youth Building Oman 2040'.

The forum is expecting participation of 200 youths from across Oman.

It will help participants to get equipped with the right understanding, knowledge and skills through workshops and sharing of experiences.

''We are getting a very good response. People are following us and expressing their viewpoint using the social media. The best part is that the group is expanding. This is the aim and volunteers are joining to take it further ahead. I am glad that we are moving ahead the way we conceived it,'' added Christina.

Participants will get an opportunity to generate ideas, ask challenging questions and give their opinion on what needs to be done to make Oman a dream country.

She said that representatives from partner organisations will spend time with the youths to give new perspective on the skills they need to achieve success.

A blueprint on the vision of these youths on taking Oman to new heights by 2040 will also be prepared.

Top corporate honchos and experts from various fields from Oman have been invited to share their knowledge with the delegates.

The forum will be held at Bait al Zubair Museum from 9am till 6p
