(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud inaugurated on Monday the six-day Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, in its 11th edition this year, held at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

Organized by Qatar Tourism Authority in cooperation with q.media events, the fair hosts 32 exhibitors from local and international companies, representing more than 500 brands of watches and jewelry in the world, and the unique new collections to be in display during special events at the exhibition

Speaking on the sidelines of his tour of the exhibition, HE the Deputy Prime Minister said the exhibition is a partnership between Qatar Tourism Authority, q.media and the private sector, praising the remarkable participation of the private sector in the event, the increasing number of exhibitors by 20 percent when compared to last year edition, as well as the participation of new countries in the exhibition

This indicates that there is a desire among international companies to take part and showcase their products in Qatar, he said

HE Al Mahmoud pointed out that he received a request from one or two companies asking for more space and better location, adding that he had discussed the matter with representatives of the Qatar Tourism Authority, and that the event will be pre-planned well in the future to ensure enough space for all participants wishing to showcase their products

QTA Chairman Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi underscored the great additions and ideas introduced to the current edition of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, which clearly contributed to the increased number of exhibitors and the growing demand on the event, one of the most important exhibitions in the exhibition industry and tourism business in Qatar

The expo is being organized by the private sector for the first time, and this shows that the private sector is playing its role in the development of this key industry for Qatar, he said, pointing out that the inauguration of the exhibition also coincides with the launch of the National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030 which sets out an ambitious roadmap for the State's tourism sector

The six-day event is expected to be one of the most exciting exhibitions of the year

Featuring the most spectacular international and local exhibitors, patrons will also get to witness a stunning catwalk show

Here brands are expected to showcase their quality jewellery and watches, many for the first time.
