Smith, Powell inspire West Indies victory

Gary Wilson's 62 helped Ireland creep over the 200-run mark to leave the hosts a target of 203 at Sabina Park on Sunday, but the writing was on the wall for the tourists when Smith (55) and Powell (57) racked up an opening partnership of 100

And there were notable contributions from Dwayne Bravo (35) and Marlon Samuels (26) as West Indies secured victory with 80 balls to spare

The match did not get off to the best of starts for Ireland, who saw Paul Stirling (4) dismissed with just six runs on the board

Ed Joyce's knock of 25 steadied the ship for the visitors before Wilson hit the highest run-total on either team from 96 deliveries

However, a series of cheap wickets cost the Irish dearly, as the final four batsmen fell in the space of just 13 balls

Jason Holder was the pick of the West Indies bowling attack with 3-34

Having claimed four quick wickets at the end of the Irish innings, the hosts were in equally dominant form when their turn with the bat came around

However, poor displays from Kirk Edwards (2) and Darren Bravo (1) threatened to undo the earlier hard work of Smith - whose 55 came in just 53 deliveries - and Powell

Dwayne Bravo and Samuels' stints at the crease grappled back control for West Indies, before the latter hit a six to close out the game in the 37th over

The result follows a 1-1 tie between the sides in the earlier Twenty20 series
