(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Qatar University's (QU) Social and Economic Survey Research Institute's (SESRI) ongoing, large-scale research survey that collects opinions of people accurately has picked up momentum, the QU said Sunday.



The Qatar Quarterly Survey (QQS) will provide unbiased opinion polling on questions of national interest to Qatar with a view to informing social, economic, cultural and employment polic



The QQS employs Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewin



This process accurately collects data and customizes questions based on respondents' answers, the QU sai



Qualified researchers conduct 15-minute surveys from the Institute's call centre



They ask questions to all sections of the population to know their views on public issue



The survey includes demographics and evaluates perceptions of respondents on the quality of life, consumer confidence, traffic, health insurance, and other matters of importance to Qatar societ



Around 1,600 randomly selected people participated in the survey's first roun



Commenting on the project, SESRI Director and Associate Vice President for Research Dr Darwish Al-Emadi said, "Information emerging from this project is critical in mapping changing opinions and perceptions on these issues." The QQS's lead principal investigator and SESRI Head of Research Dr Abdoulaye Diop said the survey "enables the residents of Qatar to reflect on the changing circumstances of their lives in this dynamic environment



Besides QQS, the SESRI is engaged in a number of studies that address Qatar's and regional concerns such as the GCC single currency, life in Qatar, social capital in Qatar, education, gender, and migrant worker



Its collaborations with the Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum, World Values Survey and the Arab Barometer Project have helped to advance research in Qatar and the wider region, providing key statistics to help formulate policy and set national priorities, QU sai
