(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and Qatar Development Bank (QDB) have launched a media campaign to attract businesses to boost tourism here. The two bodies are showcasing 'Qatar Tourism Investment Opportunities' event to the business community. This event supports the country's goal of becoming a world-class hospitality destination. It is part of the National Tourism Strategy that organisers will announce here February 23. Organisers are inviting entrepreneurs and business leaders to attend the event on March 2. They are putting up six investment opportunities. A private sector partner will develop each investment opportunity with support from QTA and QDB, organisers said today. The six projects are the first phase of a series of investment opportunities. They involve dhow cruises; luxury coaches; 4x4 leasing; a cottage market; Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions (MICE); Destination Management Company (DMC); and integrated ticking and mobile information centres. A suitable developer for each project will be selected following the event. Commenting on the partnership, HE QTA Chairman Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi said, "Tourism is a growing pillar of Qatar's expanding economy. It is driven by the fact that Qatar is one of the fastest developing leisure and business tourism markets in the world today. "QTA is leading the development of sustainable tourism which includes increased involvement of the private sector via its high-impact programmes. "The Qatar Tourism Investment Opportunities event in partnership with QDB is an initiative to showcase opportunities to potential private sector investors, entrepreneurs, SMEs and corporations." QDB CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al-Khalifa said, "Our partnership with QTA is in line with QDB's aim to enhance the private sector's contribution to Qatar's economy. "The importance of our efforts is to identify gaps in the tourism sector and help the Qatari private sector fill them by converting these gaps into achievable opportunities. "Tourism is an important part of developing a non-hydrocarbon economy to achieve the Qatar National vision 2030. QDB has a mandate to stimulate growth of private sector and SME in tourism. These six projects are selected in the first phase because they are attractive to the private sector and have an enormous potential to benefit local tourism." Successful bidders will benefit from QTA. The Authority will help in obtaining licenses; access to development and operating guidelines; priority booking for QTA functions and events. They will also get visibility on the authority's websites, social media platforms; and, wherever possible, exposure at international tourism exhibitions. They will also receive low interest rate loans and extended repayment periods from the QDB, event organisers said. The event will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel at 4 pm on March
