Oman to host GCC naval exercise


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The sultanate, represented by the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) is hosting a joint naval exercise (Union 16) of the navies of GCC.


Supported by the Royal Air Force of Oman's aircraft, the joint exercise is being held as part of training plans adopted by GCC navies to exchange expertise in different operational areas and test preparedness for the tasks entrusted to them.


The Said bin Sultan Naval Base will start receiving crew and ships from GCC navies from Sunday. Upon arrival, naval crew will be briefed on different administrative and operational aspects of the exercise.


Participating vessels will then head to the Sea of Oman on February 25 to conduct military drills and activities. The exercise will continue till March 5.
