(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Sayyid Lt Gen Munthir bin Majid al Said, head of liaison and coordination at the Royal Office received the French order, Legion d'Honneur, at the French Embassy in Muscat on Thursday.
The Legion d'Honneur, was awarded to him by French President Francois Hollande in recognition of his role in enhancing security cooperation between the sultanate and France.
The order was conferred on Sayyid Lt Gen Munthir on behalf of the president by H E Yves Oudin, French Ambassador to the sultanate, in the presence of a number of senior officials.
The order, instituted by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, is the highest order in France and is conferred on French and foreign military personnel and civilians, who have worked to strengthen ties with France.
Sayyid Lt Gen Munthir expressed his thanks and appreciation to President Hollande and also to H E Oudin.
