Millennium Resort Musannah achieves 37 Omanisation

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Millennium Resort Musannah is using tourism as a driver for growth and prosperity in the Batinah governorate, increasing job opportunities and income avenues while reinforcing the importance of environmental preservation.

To date, Millennium Resort Mussanah has recorded 37 per cent Omanisation, with plans to reach 55 per cent by end of 2014.

Maurice De Rooij, general manager, Millennium Resort Musannah, said, ''Tourism has been recognised by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said as an area of huge potential growth in the sultanate, not just in bringing extra visitors to the country but also to uplift towns and cities, and in providing more opportunities for the Omani people. We recognise the role that Millennium Resort Musannah has in the economy of Batinah and we have embraced it by prioritising employment from the region and supporting the growth of the local supply chain. In doing this, we are offering opportunities to develop talent and help the growth of local businesses. ''

Located on the pristine shores of the Gulf of Oman, Millennium Resort Musannah was originally built to host the second Asian Beach Games in 2010 but since then it has expanded to become the region's premier hospitality resort, while continuing to host an array of international sporting events and conferences.

De Rooij added, ''With tourism to Oman expected to increase 20 per cent this season, we are looking at ways to increase the involvement of the community in our business and train more Omani employees at the resort, particularly in senior positions and front of house roles. We offer a one year training programme to new recruits providing them with the means for professional growth to managerial roles.''
