(MENAFN -Arab News) Minister of Electricity and Water Abdullah bin Abdulrahman inaugurated the Smart Educational Center for Saudi youth following the conclusion of the Jeddah Youth Business exhibition at the Jeddah exhibition center here recently.

The minister expressed his appreciation at the opening of the center saying that it would enable Saudi youth to learn the skills needed to join the field of their choice. ?The center will prepare students to gain admission in any university in the country,? he said, adding that over 2 million Saudi students take the high school exams every year.

Ehab Tulab Ahmed Musa, founder of the Smart Educational Center, said the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology has organized more than 300 projects which will be shared on the center?s website to help allay fears of both students and parents about the prospect of booking seats in college or university.

?The center will help eliminate this fear that haunts nearly every family whose members are looking to gain entry into a college or university,? he said.

This creative solution meets the needs of the student through the latest educational systems and technology such as computers, smartphones, iPads or Tablets which is both interactive and interesting, he added.

He explained that they have found a solution to help students prepare for their aptitude test in a fun way using an application that can be downloaded from the center?s website to their smartphones. Not only will it help the student in solving questions, but will also improve his memory, concentration and reflexes.

The Ministry of Higher Education adopted the aptitude test as a prerequisite for admission to higher education in 2000. However, according to a research conducted recently, at least 70 percent of the students surveyed are dissatisfied with the current preparatory studies for the test while many admitted to experiencing difficulties with the course books.
