Kuwait- Citizen acquitted


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Criminal Court presided over by Judge Hassan Al- Shimmari acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen in his 20s of allegedly possessing drugs and driving his vehicle under narcotic influence in Salmiya area.



According to the case files, a police officer said he was patrolling Salmiya area when he noticed the youth speeding. After stopping the youth to check his Civil ID, the officer realized that the youth was in disoriented state and did not have his Civil ID. He checked the vehicle to find a bag which contained a piece of a brown substance and 22 narcotic pills.



Attorney Abdulmohsen Al-Qattan said the procedures for inspecting his client were illegal as per articles 43, 53 and 57 of the Penal law, which forbids restricting the personal freedom of people unless they are caught red-handed or with prior permission from the Public Prosecutio
