(MENAFN - Kora) Toulouse, Toulon and Clermont were three clubs that rejected the request from Saint-Andre to rest certain players that would be in contention for Six Nations action, with club coaches unhappy with the demands of the national team

Saint-Andre was nonplussed by the backlash from the clubs, given his request was not out of order

"First of all, we read the agreement (between the federation and Top 14), and secondly, it was respected," France's coach said

"We followed what was signed between the NRL and the FFR. We talked to all the staffs of the teams involved

"The institutions and clubs make the policies, not me. Me, I try my best to protect the players of the French team

"It is never in controversy and political division that one can prepare a team

"The 15 starters for England were rested last weekend, 98 per cent of the Irish were rested. As for the Welsh - out of 32 players, 12 had to play, but the other 20 were rested

"For us, we made a little bit of progress I suppose, but we still had only six players rested out of 30.

Another request from the French national rugby team of players to be rested will be sent to clubs on Saturday, however Toulouse - missing a large contingent of players to injury - might not be able to heed the call anyway
